Diary of a Fighter w/ Mike Hackert #9: Reality sinks in; Now I want more

I guess it wasn’t until the morning after my fight with Tim Hague that it all sunk in that I had accomplished a huge goal for me – wow it felt great. There was no surprise in the skillset I displayed and I probably could have shown more, but I got too comfortable with what I was doing. The mentality I had walking into the fight was freakishly calm. After a couple of rounds of shadow sparring in the dressing room, it was obvious that things would be fine.

Not cutting weight feels great. I don’t know why I haven’t thought of this before, I felt like I should have. It was very neat. I wanna do it again. The nerves still set in like they usually do, but they were much easier to overcome. Tim [Hague] was a very tough man and came into the fight in great shape. I don’t know too many people who can fight for fifteen minutes and still throw bombs in the last seconds. Any man who can step into the cage is a hero of mine, so my hats off to Tim and I look forward to seeing him fight again.

Usually at this time I let loose a have some fun, but now I want to see what I can accomplish. School still comes first, but it hasn’t seemed to be a factor in my preparation. I’m injury free so I’ve already been back at it. This sounds far too serious for me, but I guess it’s because I want more. When I get another opportunity to compete you will hear about it.
