The UFC finally announced the location of fight island, Yas Island in Abu Dhabi. Yas Island is a 2500 hectare island. It is a popular island and popular tourism project in Abu Dhabi. Yas Island is far from an oceanic island as many fans believed in the build-up. However, it is an interesting place.
The island plays host to the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. It has been hosting this event since 2009. Yas Island also has a Ferrari themed amusement park known as Ferrari World. Ferrari World is home to the world’s fastest roller coaster, the Formula Rossa. The top speed on the roller coaster is as high as 240 kmph. Another attraction on the island is the Flying Aces ride, which is the world’s tallest roller coaster without an inverting loop.
Yas Island also has a featured Warner brothers attraction, with special themed lands on Gotham and Metropolis.
As of now the UFC has announced that it will host four events. One on July 11, one on July 15, one on July 18 and finally one on July 25. So far only the July 11 card has been announced. It will be 821395 which will be the UFCs next pay per view event.
Some of the fights which may potentially take place on the UFC 251 card are Rose Namajunas v Jessica Andrade 2, Max Holloway v Alexander Volkanovski 2, Paige VanZant v Amanda Ribas and Kamaru Usman v Gilbert Burns. However, we should expect to see a litany of international fighters having their fights announced soon.
Fight Island was conceived as a solution by UFC and WME-IMG executives to the issue of fighter travel. Governments around the world including the United States government put in place travel limits in response to the Coronavirus pandemic.
