Brian Choi replaces Eddie Ng, meets Arnaud Lepont at ONE FC 4: Destiny of Warriors

By Thinesh John

Brian Choi (3-1 MMA) has replaced Eddie Ng (5-1 MMA), and is now set to face Team Muayfit’s Arnaud Lepont (9-1 MMA) at ONE Fighting Championship’s ‘Destiny of Warriors’ event later this month.

Ng has suffered a serious shoulder injury and will be out for up to six months.

The Singapore-based promotion announced the change on their official Facebook page, with Eddie Ng confirming the status on his Twitter account.

Featuring a Light-Heavyweight tilt between former Strikeforce Light-Heavyweight Champion Renato ‘Babalu’ Sobral and Tatsuya Mizuno, ONE FC 4: Destiny of Warriors takes place June 23rd at the Stadium Negara in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The entire event is expected to stream online, but nothing is confirmed yet.

Brian Choi, a fighter from South Korea, fights and trains out of the famed Evolve MMA gym in Singapore. Nicknamed ‘Polar Bear’, the 28-year-old boasts a 3-1 professional Mixed Martial Arts record and has competed in several regional promotions including DARE and ROAD Fighting Championship.

The Light-Weight is a No-Gi grappling champion, who also holds a Blue Belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu under Renzo Gracie. Choi recently suffered the first set-back of his career when he was decisioned by Bae Young Kwon at ROAD FC 5. He will now be fighting for the first time in 6 months, and will be looking to mark his promotional debut in style.

Arnaud Lepont, meanwhile, will be looking be build on his string of spectacular performances when he steps into the ONE FC cage for the first time. Prior to

handing Krzysztof Hajtalowicz the first defeat of his career, Lepont was on a tear with an 8-1 record, with his only loss coming at the hands Samuel Judes. The frenchman, who trains out of Team Muayfit in Malaysia, has gained 8 stoppages in his 10 professional bouts and is now perhaps arguably the favorite heading into this upcoming Light-Weight match-up.
