Contract Recipients: Jimmy Flick, William Knight, Ronnie Lawrence.

Melsik Baghdasaryan def Dennis Buzukja via Unanimous Decision

Feedback: Melsik Baghdasaryan looked very sharp standing and landed some big shots early. Buzukja did well to land some leg kicks but was overwhelmed on his feet throughout much of the round. Baghdasaryan landed a series of straight lefts and Buzujka secured a late takedown. I scored the round for Melsik Baghdasaryan.

The second round saw Buzukja land some leg kicks but Baghdasaryan kept the pressure on standing and landed some damaging body kicks. Nice trip takedown by Buzukja but he was unable to keep him on the mat. It was a more competitive round and it could have been one to one heading into the third.

The majority of the third round was spent standing and trading, which favored Baghdasaryan. Buzukja was able to nearly secure an armbar, but in the end, Baghdasaryan more than likely did enough to earn the round and the decision victory. Both guys are very skilled and worthy of being in the UFC. It will be interesting to see is Dana awards a contract here.

Jimmy Flick def. Nate Smith via Submission (Arm Triangle) at 3:15 of Round 3

Feedback: Jimmy Flick was able to get the fight to the canvas early and attack with submissions. He secured a deep armbar, as well as a tight guillotine but Smith was able to escape both submissions. Smith got to his feet but seemed to be exhausted as the first round ended.

Flick again utilized his takedowns and got the fight to the canvas again in the second. They traded submission attempts and Smith locked on what looked to be a tight triangle choke midway through the second round. Jimmy Flick escaped and advanced to the mount position. Flint went for an armbar and then secured a triangle choke. Smith survived but he’s down two rounds.

More of the same to start the third round. Jimmy Flick secures the takedown and started looking for submissions. Jimmy Flick landed some shots from the top and tried to find a choke. Flick was in the mount and secured an Arm Triangle, finally earning a tap and submission victory. Give him a contract.

Ronnie Lawrence def. Jose Johnson via Unanimous Decision

Feedback: Jose Johnson wants to stand and he landed a big right hand early. Ronnie Lawrence did a very good job utilizing his wrestling advantage and took Johnson down on multiple occasions. Lawrence controlled the round with his wrestling.

The second round saw more of the same as Jose Johnson looked to unload strikes, and Lawrence with the level change and takedown. Both fighters saw some control time on the canvas, but Lawrence put another round in the bank.

Lawrence controlled the action with takedowns and top time. He secured his tenth takedown midway through the final round. This was a one-sided fight and Josh Johnson was soundly beaten by the longshot Lawrence. I enjoyed his style. It will be interesting to see if Dana gives him a contract.

William Knight def. Cody Brundage via TKO (Elbows) at 2:23 of Round 1

Feedback: Cody Brundage has really good wrestling and immediately secured a takedown. William Knight got back to his feet and Brundage immediately level changed and went for a second takedown. Knight landed a series of short elbows and then some punches, halting the action. Big win for William Knight!

Tucker Lutz def. Chase Gibson via Unanimous Decision

Feedback: Decent fight that saw mostly stand up between the two fighters. Tucker Lutz was able to land a lot more than Chase Gibson. Lutz looked to have solid standup but it certainly wasn’t a spectacular win and I expect Tucker Lutz to not get awarded a contract despite the victory.
