After Glimmer of Hope, UFC 254 Will Remain Closed to Fans

This likely won’t come as a surprise to most, but this weekend’s UFC 254 will once again be behind closed doors. There was a hope that the event would be open to fans for the first time since the COVID-19 pandemic, but time, unfortunately, ran out on that possibility.

UFC 254 Remains Closed to Fans

According to a report from ESPN‘s Brett Okamoto, there was a last-minute plan by the UFC invite fans to this week’s event. The plan could not come to fruition in time, but there will be a select number of people invited to join the event. This is slight progress towards getting events back to feeling “normal”, but there is still much to be done.

UFC 254 will be headlined by a lightweight title unification bout between undefeated superstar Khabib Nurmagomedov and interim champion Justin Gaethje. The co-main event features what will likely be a title eliminator in the middleweight division between former champion Robert Whittaker and surging contender Jared Cannonier.
