Israel Adesanya Promoted to BJJ Purple Belt

In his post, the UFC champion stated, “I smoked with Snoop Dogg 💨, I surfed worth Kelly Slater 🏄🏾‍♂️, I rolled with Andre Galvao 🥋. This has been the highlight of my trip so far, being surprised with a purple belt by @galvaobjj .
Although initially I didn’t feel like I deserve this. I trust his judgement and feel I have earned this. In my short time here I’ve felt my jiu jitsu level up. I love knocking people out, but it’s time to start tapping them out!”

The promotion was made by ATOS head coach Andre Galvao.

Adesanya (20-0) is undefeated in his professional MMA career at an impressive 20-0. The 31-year-old captured the 185-pound gold at UFC 236 and unified it with a knockout of Robert Whittaker at UFC 243. “The Last Stylebender” has defended his gold on two occasions. Most recently, Adesanya earned a TKO stoppage of Paulo Costa at UFC 253.

The new purple belt has yet to submit any of his MMA foes, however it sounds as if that is his next goal.
