Mike Brown signs contract extension, back for at least 5 fights with UFC

The former WEC featherweight Champion, Mike Brown, has decided that he is not yet done with fighting. Prior to losing his title to current UFC featherweight champion Jose Aldo, Brown was on an amazing 10 fight win streak. During that tenure he defeated Urijah Faber not once but twice.

It was announced last week that the former champ had signed a 5 fight deal with the UFC and yesterday he released a statement via his website on his decision to continue fighting.

The Last couple of years were kind of rough on me. I had lots of injuries and I was feeling fatigued during training and fights. When you feel like this it takes all the fun out of being in the cage. I was starting to think that was going to continue. Going in to the last fight with Pineda I was pretty certain that was going to be my last fight. I talked to my friends, family, and coaches. I told them how I was feeling and i told them I would make up my decision about retirement after the fight. This Fight felt different, I felt great and I felt no fatigue. I felt like i did when I won the belt in 2008/2009.  I felt like I could of easily went 5 rounds and I had  a lot of fun being out there. Last week I signed a new 5 fight deal with UFC and plan to continue on and finish up my new contract. Thanks for watching and thanks for the support. Special thanks to my team American Top Team and my sponsors Top Secret Nutrition, Booster, and Jaco.

Brown was contemplating retirement prior to his UFC 146 fight, however had a change of heart after winning a dominant unanimous decision victory over Daniel Pineda.

With the featherweight division fairly shallow, we can expect to see Brown try to make a run for another title shot. Brown is currently ranked #21 on Fight Matrix, however look for him to shake things up when he returns to the octagon.

No word as to who Brown will square off with in his next fight in the UFC, but keep it locked to MMASucka.com for news as it drops.
