Cory Sandhagen knocks Frankie Edgar out with Flying Knee

UFC Vegas 18 was live tonight and in the co-main event, we were blessed with a clash between Frankie Edgar and Cory Sandhagen. Cory Sandhagen was the betting favorite heading into the fight, but you can never count out Frankie Edgar.

Frankie Edgar takes on Cory Sandhagen

What was expected to be a big clash of potential title fighters ended in a violent fashion! Cory Sandhagen landed a jumping knee just 28 seconds into the contest that knocked Frankie Edgar completely unconscious. It was a highlight-reel knockout for the ages!

The two fighters met in the center of the Octagon and as Frankie Edgar jumped into a punch, he was met with a knee that ended all doubt, and Edgar crashed to the mat in a heap. It was a scary knockout and we can only hope that Edgar is ok.

For Cory Sandhagen, he needed a performance for the ages and certainly delivered just that. This is a star-making knockout and Sandhagen has to be on the shortlist for title consideration at this point. He was ranked second in the bantamweight division and will have undoubtedly earned a title shot with that win. Incredible! He will meet the winner of Petr Yan and Aljamain Sterling without a doubt.

While it’s always difficult to see legends fall, when you fight at the upper echelon of the UFC for as long as Edgar has, you take a few losses along the way. Whatever is next for Edgar, his legion of fans will be in his corner.
