LFA 100 Preview – Flyweight Title on the Line

LFA 100 is Friday night and it marks a very important night for the promotion. 100 events is an unbelievably impressive anniversary and for LFA it marks quite a milestone. LFA is a feeder organization and sends a lot of fighters to the UFC. By the time the LFA fighter gets to the UFC, they are ready to compete at that level. That’s due in large part to how professionally LFA is run. You can catch up on LFA results here.

LFA 100 Preview

The main event features a flyweight championship fight between Nate Smith and Victor Altamirano. The fight was supposed to feature Carlos Mota but he was unable to get permission to enter the country for the fight.

Nate Smith has stepped up on short notice to fill the void and will be looking to parlay the opportunity into a world title. Smith has won three of four, with his loss coming in the Dana White Contender Series against Jimmy Flick back in September. The fight should provide some entertaining scrambles as both fighters love to seek submissions on the mat.

In the co-main event, fans will be treated to an outstanding flyweight fight that could very well determine the next contender for the title. Charles Johnson will face Karlee Pangilinan in a fight between talented fighters.

Charles Johnson has a professional record of 7-2 and has also boxed professionally. He will clearly be looking to keep the fight standing and attempt to utilize his boxing skills. He needs to establish himself again in LFA after leaving to pursue a boxing career. A victory over Pangilinan will do just that.

He’ll be taking on the undefeated “Chef Boy” who brings a spotless 6-0 record into the fight. The Team Quest product has a ton of skills. He’s won all six of his fights via stoppage and five of those six were in the first round. He has tremendous submission skills and also possesses good striking. In this fight, you can expect him to try and take Johnson down and look to submit him. It should be a really interesting fight.
