Donald Cerrone to face Melvin Guillard in UFC 150 co-main event

A lightweight showdown between Donald Cerrone and Melvin Guillard has been placed as the co-main event of UFC 150 in Denver, Colorado.

Cerrone (18-4) defeated Jeremy Stephens at UFC on FUEL TV 3 and in his post fight speech, he told Joe Rogan, “I want to fight in Denver.” He then went on to push for a fight against former WEC champ Anthony Pettis, however that was squashed. He will now face former teammate, Guillard.

Guillard (47-11-3) is also coming off a win. He picked up his most recent victory against Fabricio Camoes at UFC 148 in Las Vegas. The victory snapped a two fight losing skid, as he lost to Joe Lauzon and Jim Miller both of which in the first round.

Both Cerrone and Guillard used to be former teammates at the Greg Jackson/Mike Winkeljohn camp in Albuquerque, N.M. Guillard left the camp to move on and train with the Blackzilians in Florida, while Cerrone still trains with Jackson’s in Albuquerque.

UFC 150 is set to take place at The Pepsi Center in Denver, Colorado on August 11. The card will be headlined by a rematch between champion Benson Henderson and former champ Frankie Edgar for the lightweight championship.
