Conor McGregor buys the same pub where he infamously punched an elderly man in 2019

Conor McGregor has bought the Marble Arch pub in Dublin, Ireland.

In case you didn’t know it is the pub where Conor McGregor infamously punched an elderly man back in 2019. This led to a courtroom apology and a minor fine. McGregor has returned to the same pub two years later and purchased it according to The Currency. The Irishman spent around €1.5 million – €2 million to purchase the pub which, for a man as rich as McGregor, is probably very small.

After the incident was made public through the media in 2019, McGregor was very regretful of what had happened and went on air to apologise. If you were a betting man, Olybet would be the way to go, however, betting on McGregor to purchase the pub may have never been on the props list.

“In reality, it doesn’t matter what happened there,” Conor McGregor said to ESPN. “I was in the wrong. That man deserved to enjoy his time in the pub without having it end the way it did. And although five months ago it was and I tried to make amends, and I made amends back then. That does not even matter, I was in the wrong. I must come here before you and take accountability and take responsibility, I owe it to the people that have been supporting me, I owe it to my mother, my father, my family. I owe it to the people who trained me in martial arts.”

Two years later McGregor has bought the pub and perhaps jokingly said on his Twitter that the man he punched has now been banned from the pub.

Joke or not, the news of his purchase may not necessarily be good for his public image as fans are reminded of the disgusting incident that occurred two years ago.

Conor McGregor will be returning at UFC 264 against Dustin Poirier in a final trilogy bout on July 10th at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. The bout will be contested in front of a full capacity crowd.
