Chase Sherman will be facing off against Hartford’s own, Parker Porter this weekend at UFC Vegas 34. Two veterans of the sport will be looking to cement their position in the UFC with a win on Saturday night. The fight will take place right before the co-main event. The main event of the evening will be Kelvin Gastelum versus Jared Cannonier. The prelims are set to be on ESPN 2 and the main card will be on regular ESPN.
Chase Sherman
Chase Sherman will be coming into this fight with a four-inch height and a three-inch reach advantage. Sherman is a former BKFC heavyweight champion winning the title in August of 2019. He has a professional MMA record of 15-7 with 14 of those wins being knockouts. Chase Sherman has never had a professional mixed martial arts bout end in submission. 11 of those 14 knockout wins were finished in the first round.
Sherman spent a brief stint in the UFC from 2016 through 2018. In that time he went 2-5 and was released following a TKO loss to Augusto Sakai. He then went 3-0 in Island Fights and was brought back to the UFC in 2020. Chase Sherman won his first fight back by TKO against Ike Villanueva. In his second fight, he lost a decision to Andrei Arlovski. His only professional losses are to very high-level competition. Guys like Justin Willis, Shamil Abdurakhimov, Walt Harris, and Alex Nicholson.
Parker Porter
Parker Porter has a professional MMA record of 11-6. He is 5-3 by knockout and 3-2 by submission. Porter only has 2 fights in the UFC and has racked up a 1-1 record since making his debut in 2020. He lost his debut by TKO against Chris Daukaus and then beat Josh Parisian by decision in his most recent fight. Porter lost his Reality Fight heavyweight title to Gabriel Gonzaga in 2011. He also has a KO loss to former UFC light heavyweight champion, Jon Jones in his third pro fight in 2008.

Porter has fought for regional promotions all around the northeastern area. Promotions such as Reality Fighting, CES, and XFC. He is 36 years of age and has taken two long breaks from fighting in his career. Once, from 2011-2013 after his loss to Gabriel Gonzaga, and once from 2015-2018 after a submission wins against Eric Bedard at Bellator 140.
