Donald Cerrone vs. Craig Jones set for CJJ Worlds

Eddie Bravo has announced via his Instagram account, that Combat Jiu-Jitsu Worlds: The Featherweights event gained an interesting Superfight. UFC veteran, and one of the most popular competitors to ever step into the Octagon, Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone will square off with one of grappling’s most dominant figures, Craig Jones

Cerrone’s last fight took place at UFC Vegas 26 in May, where he lost via first-round TKO to Alex Morono. It was his fifth loss in the last six fights; the only exception being a no-contest after the bout against Niko Price. The fight was initially ruled a majority draw, but it was changed to a no-contest after Price tested positive for marijuana.

It looks like “Cowboy” is looking for new challenges in his fighting career.

Craig Jones doesn’t need any introduction to fans of submission grappling and combat sports. The renowned competitor has many trophies and titles in his portfolio: former Submission Underground Champion, Polaris Grappling Champion, he’s also an IBJJF and Naga World champion.

In his recently uploaded video Donald had this to say about the upcoming bout:

Donald Cowboy Cerrone Super Fight Announcement

Eddie Bravo called me. He wants me to take a super fight against hands down the baddest Jiu-Jitsu artist around right now. But it’s combat jiu-jitsu, so there’s palm striking,” he said.

It’s wrestling until you hit the ground and it’s palm striking and jiu-jitsu. Which will be fun. Hopefully, I can negate a heel hook by palm striking the face.

It’s fun to get something fired up and then use all that fired up energy and run it right into a fight. I’ll be in shape, ready to rock.

Combat Jiu-Jitsu Worlds: The Featherweights is set to take place in Cancun, Mexico on Dec. 19. It will stream on UFC Fight Pass on Sunday, Dec. 19 at 6 p.m. EST.

The rest of the card includes the 16 man tournament which features promotions Bantamweight Champion, Elias Anderson amongst other participants such as: Gabriel Austin Daffron, Michael Wacker, Chris Lencioni, Dillon Masington, David Weintraub, Jordan Holy, Cody Owens, David Acuña, Zack Schneider, Estevan Martinez and Keith Krikorian with last four to be announced at a later time.
