It looks that after losing the possibility of a rematch with Jake Paul, Tyron Woodley will focus his attention on another UFC veteran, Dan Hardy.
As revealed by Ariel Helwani via his Helwani Nose Substack, ‘The Choosen One’ and former UFC fighter and Welterweight challenger turned broadcast announcer, Dan Hardy are working out details of their upcoming boxing bout, which is targeted for spring of 2022.
Hardy’s MMA fight record is 25 – 10 – 1 NC. His fighting career was put on a hold in 2012, when he was diagnosed with rare heart condition, Wolff – Parkinson – White syndrome. After six years, which he spend behind the commentary desk in UFC, he announced that he was medically cleared to compete. That wasn’t enough for the promotion, which wasn’t willing to book him a comeback fight. ‘The Outlaw’ was fired from his position earlier this year, and news about his participation in a boxing bout suggest that he was released from his fighter contract as well.
The bout itself was mentioned by Englishman a few times, including a recent interview for Submission Radio:
My contract is signed. And I know that he’s got a contract sitting in front of him, and the deadline is approaching, and he doesn’t want to sign it. And I don’t know why. I don’t know what the deal is because terms have been agreed, money’s been agreed, date’s been agreed, rules and conditions, weight class—everything’s been agreed. But he hasn’t yet signed the contract. So you tell me. Tyron Woodley, why have you not signed it, The Frozen One?”
There are speculations that stale was caused by Woodley’s efforts of securing a rematch with Jake Paul. After the younger of Paul brothers nixed a potential second in-ring meeting with Woodley the boxing bout with Hardy came closer to realization.
