Mamed Khalidov Speaks out on his Future

Former KSW middleweight champion, Mamed Khalidov hasn’t made his final decision regarding the continuation of his fighting career, but he hopes to continue his journey as an MMA fighter.

In his last fight that took place at KSW 65, Khalidov was brutally knocked out by Roberto Soldic. After the bout, he had to undergo surgery in order to fix his broken facial bones. The treatment was successful and now Khalidov is now in midst of the recovery process. In his recent Instagram video Khalidov stated that he needs another 2 or 3 months to fully heal from injuries. He also spoke on the outcome of his last fight:

I have never had a knockdown in my career. Even during training, I think it lost me that I went to exchanges with such a fighter too boldly. The plan was quite different. I was overwhelmed by emotions, I wanted to prove something and I proved to myself that it was stupid.

He also added that he was happy to be able to fight such a challenging opponent. On the other hand, speaking about his future in the cage, he said:

I’ll wait until my bones heal and I think I’ll start training and that we didn’t say the last word. What are we going to do next? We will all decide together. You, me, and the entire training staff. I hope and believe that we will go for new challenges, together, together and I will be wiser.

Khalidov said that he is feeling very well and that this defeat has nothing to do with his age. He also stated that if he felt during training that he lacked anything to compete against his opponents he would quit fighting at all.

Former KSW champion also thanked the fans for their support in the venue that was sown by not leaving seats until he would leave the cage and in form of many messages send via social media.

Khalidov is the biggest star in the history of KSW and former middleweight and lightweight champion. He has 35 – 8 – 2 professional records, with 31 of his wins coming by the KO or submissions. He defeated such notable names as Igor Pokrajac, Jason Guida, Yuki Sasaki, Matt Lindland, Jesse Taylor, Kendall Grove, Melvin Manhoef, Ryuta Sakurai, Maiquel Falcao, Luke Barnatt, and Scott Askham.
