Ronda Rousey Rumoured to be Making WWE Return

The former UFC women’s bantamweight champion and the former WWE Raw women’s champion, Ronda Rousey is set for a return to WWE’s squared circle at WrestleMania 38, set for April 3rd. Rumours have circulated that the WWE are under “heavy consideration” to bring Rousey back to the WWE in their biggest event of the year, according to Dave Meltzer.

Rousey has not competed in the WWE since WrestleMania 35 in 2019, where competed in the main event slot marking the first-ever women’s main event match in WrestleMania history. This highlighted the impact of the ‘women’s revolution’. In that match, she faced off against two of the biggest names in women’s WWE history in Charlotte Flair and Becky Lynch, where Lynch would go on to win the match.

Both Rousey and Lynch have since taken hiatuses from the sports entertainment scene to have children. Rousey gave birth in September of last year, whereas Lynch gave birth in the previous December. Lynch returned to action in August of last year.

Former foe, Lynch has already reacted to the news that Rousey may be making a return, taking to Twitter and stating ‘was wondering if you’d show up again. I’ve still got her and she’s doing great’ (in reference to the RAW women’s championship).

There is a suggestion that Rousey could make her return as soon as the Royal Rumble PPV, which takes place on January 30th as either an entrant to the match or to confront Lynch following her match with Doudrop. As of yet, it’s unclear if this will come to fruition, however, a number of betting companies have Rousey as the favourite to win the women’s Royal Rumble.

With that being said, a Rousey return to the WWE is certainly something to keep an eye on in the coming months.
