FAC 12 Results: Who Got the Nelk Boys’ Attention?

FAC 12 went down in Independence, Missouri on February 6th, with an eighteen-fight card filled with vicious finishes. Read below for a full recap and results from FAC 12, as well as the fighter(s) chosen to receive a UFC contract.

Undefeated, Unchallenged- Full Send Next?

Isaac Dulgarian continued his relentless streak of first round finishes with a cakewalk of a finish against TeeJay Britton.

Dulgarian quickly took Britton to the mat, landing crushing ground and pound. When Britton opened his guard, Dulgarian stood and knocked Britton out cold with punches, becoming the FAC featherweight champion at just 1:13 into the first round.

Isaac Dulgarian has been signed by the UFC. If contracts go through, he is the Nelk Boys’ choice for the Full Send fighter.

Eduardo Dantas vs. Jose Alday

The co-main event featured a high-level clash between former Combate champion Jose Alday and former Bellator champion Eduardo Dantas.

After a feeling out process, a counter left hook briefly dropped Alday (14-7-1), but he popped back up to his feet. Alday continued to struggle with the reach of Dantas (23-7), who landed leg kicks en route to a takedown and brief time on top. Dantas began to land combinations as the round progressed, likely winning the first round.

The second round lacked in dramatic moments, but Dantas continued to score with a jam from distance. A double leg takedown from Dantas was quickly reversed by Alday, and the pair returned to the feet. Out of nowhere, Dantas throws a head kick that lands flush on Alday and puts him out asleep.

The devastating was likely the most important of Dantas’ thirty-fight career.

“Maniac” Nets a Mauling Against “Crash”

“The Maniac” Mikey England scored the biggest win of his career against Lawrence, Kansas’, Zak “Crash” Bucia with a second round stoppage.

England quickly slammed Bucia to the canvas, landing elbows and punches from top control and cutting open Bucia. “Crash” attempted to throw up submission attempts on England, but England easily saw them coming and stole the round.

The second was more of the same, with England taking Bucia down and pounding away from half guard. The blood continued to flow as England advanced position to side control and battered Bucia until he got the TKO finish.

Fremd Submits Bauman for Impressive Second-Round Sub

Josh Fremd (9-2) got the win he came for against JacksonWink’s Joel Bauman (4-2) with a second round submission.

Bauman started off strong in the first round keeping Fremd at bay with leg kicks and oblique kicks to the knee. Fremd was able to get a few licks in, but the round mostly belong to Bauman.

The second round was a completely different story, as Fremd timed the overhand right against Bauman and slammed him to the canvas. Fremd instantly locked in a no-hooks rear naked choke and got the tap at 1:01 of the second.

Fremd, who was offered a short-notice bout against Sam Alvey at UFC Vegas 46, now puts himself in prime position to be picked up by the world leader in MMA.

Josh Fremd has been signed by the UFC.

“Shameless” Smothers Lencioni in Stalemate

It wasn’t flashy, but “Shameless” Don Shainis (10-3) controlled his way to a decision win over Bellator veteran Cris Lencioni (7-3).

While Lencioni had success with the jab early, the power and takedowns of Shainis set him in top position for most of the first round. Lencioni tried to use his open guard to throw up submissions, but Shainis was able to stack and land ground and pound to seal the round.

Lencioni started the second frame with a flying push kick, and proceeded to take Shainis to the mat. A reversal from Shainis put the fight back where it was in round one with Shainis in Lencioni’s guard. The action ground to halt for the remainder of the round, drawing jeers from the crowd.

Lencioni was once again able to bring Shainis to the mat in round three, but the fight right back to neutral as Shainis again swept and sat in Lencioni’s half guard. Lencioni eventually his way back to the top and worked submissions, ending the fight on Shainis’ back with a rear naked choke nearly set.

All three judges scored the fight for “Shameless” Don Shainis.

The Rest of the Main Card

24 year-old Ken Beverly won a tight contest against Marshal Kemp, winning a unanimous decision. In the first round, Kemp put his slick BJJ skills on display, rattling off submission attempts in the first round. Through several transitions, he nearly locked in a kimura and guillotine choke, but Beverly worked his way out.

Beverly was able to put Kemp on his back in the second round, working from the half guard to land strikes. After a reversal from Kemp, Beverly switched between triangle chokes and armbars, the latter looked to hyperextend the arm of Kemp.

The third round began with a barrage of strikes from Beverly that nearly finished Kemp, but Kemp was able to clinch and take Beverly to the ground. It was mostly a stalemate for the remainder of the fight, with Beverly reversing and keeping the top position until the last bell. He took the fight 29-28 from all three judges.

Zach Scroggin (2-0) lit up the Cable Dahmer Arena with a quick TKO of Jordan Donais (0-1) in his second pro fight. Donais shot for a takedown, leaving Scroggin sprawled against the cage. The finish came just 32 seconds into the fight as Scroggin rained down elbows on the side of Donais’ head, earning an impressive stoppage.

Gage Young (4-0) nailed the biggest moment of his fledging career with a stunning first round KO of David Evans (4-1). Young timed the overhand right perfectly to knock a stunned Evans to his back, and knocked him unconscious with follow-up strikes. Young jumped the cage to shake the Nelk Boys’ hands directly after the electrifying win.

In the opening bout of the main card, Elle Wagman (4-0) added another scalp to her collection with a punishing win over Cristina Crist (1-2). After two and a half rounds of combinations landing at will for Wagman, the standing guillotine choke finish presented itself in the third round.
