Mamed Khalidov Details Return and Possible 2nd Soldic Fight

In a recent interview, Mamed Khalidov spoke about returning to the cage. In his last fight, he was badly knocked out and many fans wondered if it would be the ending to his storied career.

Mamed Khalidov Details Training and Return

At KSW 65, the former KSW Lightweight and Middleweight champion looked to defend the latter title against Roberto Soldic. The fight ended in the second round when the Polish MMA legend suffered his first KO loss.

‘RoboCop’ reached for the second KSW belt and is currently the champion of two weight classes. The Croatian was also the first to knock out Khalidov. After the defeat, Khalidov had to undergo surgery at MML Medical Center, with the doctors comparing Soldic’s hit with a horse’s kick.

Now in his interview which was uploaded on the CentrumMedyczne MML Youtube channel, the Checnian – Polish fighter admitted that he has resumed training, but is not doing any kind of sparring yet. He stressed; however, that he is in a good shape and that if he had received an offer from KSW, he would return to the cage.

I train normally, but I don’t do sparring. I do the rest:  wrestling, grappling, or general MMA training. I also do Cross-fit, running, and boxing. At this moment If they would offer me a fight, I would go out and do it.

He also noted that if Soldić chose not to sign with the UFC and stayed with KSW, he would campaign for a rematch. He recalled that the Croatian, asking for a first fight after defeating  Patrik Kincel, immediately talked about the second fight, no matter how the first bout would end.

I am being reprimanded all the time by Kawul – one of KSW’s bosses –  not to hurry. On the other hand, I am ready to fight in a month, or in two months. I’m both physically and morally prepared for it. I don’t know when they’ll give me a fight, though.

If Roberto stays, I will try to arrange another fight with him. He himself said before the fight, how he asked for another one, he said: ‘Let’s fight two times’. I saw him at the last event and we talked about it. He said ‘yes’, because he had given me his word that he would like to fight for a second time.

Unclear Future

Despite his optimism and well-being, Mamed Khalidov is uncertain when, or even if he will make his way back inside the KSW’s circular cage. The other matter is the selection of a potential opponent, as the promotion might be against booking a rematch against Soldic, as there are talks about staging a clash between two Polish MMA icons. The potential super fight would feature Khalidov taking on Mariusz Pudzianowski.
