MMASucka’s UFC Fight Night 205 Staff Picks

MMASucka staff picks are set for the final event of March.

A solid lineup of fights is in store for UFC Fight Night 205 taking place in just a few hours this evening, March 26 from the Nationwide Arena in Columbus, Ohio. This marks the promotion’s second straight “Fight Night” away from the usual UFC Apex in Las Vegas and their return to the state’s capital for the first time since UFC 96 in March of 2009. Six fights will take place on the main card beginning at 7:00pm ET (4:00pm PT) live on both ESPN and ESPN+.

MMASucka staff picks will return in two weeks with UFC 273: Volkanovski vs. The Korean Zombie on Saturday, April 9.

Results from the entire fight card of UFC Fight Night 205: Blaydes vs. Daukaus are available here at MMASucka.

The Fights

Heavyweights Curtis Blaydes and Chris Daukaus will meet in the scheduled five-round main event.

Elevation Fight Team’s Blaydes looks for his second-straight win following a September decision of Jairzinho Rozenstruik. With only three professional defeats to Francis Ngannou (twice) and Derrick Lewis through 19 career bouts, the talented wrestler looks to keep defeats at a minimum hoping for one breakout performance to get him closer to a potential title shot. Blaydes’s opponent, Philadelphia’s Daukaus, is hoping to rebound after his fourth career defeat in his first UFC main event to Derrick Lewis last December. The knockout loss snapped a five-fight streak of knockout wins including four under the promotional banner.

Flyweight favorites look to steal the show in tonight’s featured co-main event between Joanne Wood and Alexa Grasso. Former multi-champion kickboxer Wood sits in desperate need for a victory following back-to-back defeats in 2021 to Lauren Murphy and Taila Santos. 28-year-old Grasso comes in the opposite with two straight wins in her first fight in over a year after securing a unanimous decision over Maycee Barber in early 2021.

Also on the main card sees striking veteran Matt Brown, undefeated former ACB flyweight champion Askar Askarov, and rising talent Viacheslav Borschev take on their respected opponents. Find our MMASucka staff picks for UFC Fight Night 205 further below.

Staff Picks

Staff picks in 2022 will follow the same set of rules from the 2021 season. Throughout the calendar year, staff picks will be composed of main card fights from both UFC and Bellator events. Main card fights and selected preliminary fights will be selected for PFL MMA. Dana White’s Contender Series will be composed of the entire fight card.

Dates for the return of both PFL MMA and Dana White’s Contender Series in 2022 are soon-to-be announced.

The WINNER of staff picks in 2022 will have a choice between receiving a custom-made championship belt from ProAmBelts or a chain from Championship Chains. A winner is determined simply by the individual correctly picking the most victorious fighters at the year’s end. Nate Freeman secured his first victory with MMASucka in 2021 with a compiled record 243-136.
