PFL 2 Card Revealed, Heavyweight Champion Returns

The second event of the PFL 2022 Regular season will be headlined by a clash between the previous season’s Heavyweight Champion Bruno Cappelozza and Stuart Austin.

PFL 2 Headlined by Heavyweight Battle

PFL 2 will take place on April 28th at Esports Stadium Arlington in Arlington, Texas, as Heavyweight Champion Cappelozza will be looking to begin a journey toward a second championship belt as takes on England’s ‘He – Man’. The Brazilian has a 14 – 5 professional MMA record and is riding a five-fight winning streak as he is unbeaten in PFL.  Perhaps most impressively, Cappelozza sports a 93% finish rate, having only gone the distance in his last fight. Respectively, Austin has a  15 – 7 professional MMA record and will be hoping to bounce back after his KO loss to Rennan Ferreira at 2021 PFL 5.

In the co-main event, featherweight Brendan Loughnane, who is one of the UK’s top tier fighters with a 21-4 professional record, returns to the PFL SmartCage against heavy-handed Japanese ONE and Shooto veteran Ryoji Kudo, who won seven of his last eight fights.

In another heavyweight matchup, Croatian Ante “Walking Trouble” Delija, who is the 2021 PFL Heavyweight finalist and protégé of legendary Mirko Cro Cop, brings his 14 professional stoppages back to the PFL where he will take on Brazilian Matheus Scheffel, who is a former participant of Dana White’s Contender Series.

A 6’ 8” Brazilian giant Renan “Problema” Ferreira and American Jamelle “The Beast” Jones will both be looking to serve each other a painful KO loss as Ferreira has earned six of his eight wins by KO or TKO, while Jones targets for his 13th professional win.

PFL CEO Peter Murray said:

With three current or former Professional Fighters League World Champions on the PFL 2 card on April 28, fans around the world are in for a major night of action. We look forward to continuing to disrupt the sport with the best action in MMA as the Heavyweight and Featherweight fighters begin their seasons with the PFL World Championship and the $1 million purse in their sights.

PFL President of Fighter Operations, Ray Sefo stated:

On April 28, MMA fans can expect an action-packed night of fights. I cannot wait to see the former world champions on this card battle it out against a group of elite fighters looking to make their mark in the sport.
