Dustin Lampros defeated Ashton Caniglia via unanimous decision in a bantamweight contest at Shamrock FC 337 on Saturday at the River City Casino in St. Louis.

Lampros improved to 7-0 with the win, while Caniglia dropped to 5-4. Lampros said he feels amazing and that he was pleased to get three rounds of experience.

“Obviously, I would have liked the finish, but you’ve got to take what you can get sometimes,” Lampros told MMASucka.

Lampros said the fight went according to plan: he took his time, let Caniglia make mistakes, and put damage on him.

“I thought he would break a little bit more, but he was tough, and I had to win by decision,” he said.

In the third round of a fight Lampros had clearly taken the first two rounds of, Lampros landed what the referee saw as a low blow. Caniglia took a few minutes to recover, but Lampros said he landed the kick to Caniglia’s stomach and added that the commission backed him up.

“It was a TKO by body kick, but it’s all right, I’ll take it,” Lampros said.

Lampros is unsure of who he wants to fight next, though his heart is set on the UFC. His plan is to keep on winning until he is offered a UFC contract straight up, he said. Lampros was an alumnus of The Ultimate Fighter Season 29.

“Scrappy” said he is down to continue fighting on the regional circuit until the UFC call comes.

“I’ll be patient,” he said. “I’ve dedicated my life to this, and this is all I do, so I’m not in a rush to make irrational decisions. If it means taking a couple of more fights and building myself, so I’m fine with it.”
