UFC 277 Card Official for July 30th

The UFC 277 card has been officially announced for July 30th and will take place from the American Airlines Centre in Texas. The card will be headlined by a pair of rematches as the former, dominant champion, Amanda Nunes and the woman who shocked the world when she tapped her out, Juliana Pena will clash again. In the co-main event, we told you that there would be an interim flyweight title bout between Kai Kara France and Brandon Moreno, which has since come to fruition.

Juliana Pena vs. Amanda Nunes to Headline UFC 277

We knew that Pena and Nunes would be rematching at some point after the shocking end to their UFC 269 fight. Nunes dominated the first round before Pena rallied to not only outbox one of the most devastating punchers in UFC history but she managed to then finish the fight via submission. This was without doubt one of the biggest upsets in UFC history and the two women are set to meet again after being selected as team captains of ‘The Ultimate Fighter’. Their rematch will take centre stage in Texas for UFC 277.

Flyweight Interim Title Bout set for UFC 277

With champion, Deiveson Figueiredo suffering from an injured finger, the natural thing to do was to make an interim title bout. Clashing for the chance to be called the interim champion will be Brandon Moreno and Kai Kara France. When the first two met at UFC 245, Moreno came out on top with a unanimous decision victory.

Expect a high-paced bout with both men looking to cement themselves as the man to challenge the Brazillian champion later on in the year.

Elsewhere on the Card

Derrick Lewis will be returning to Texas to face off against rising star, Sergei Pavlovich. Lewis is coming off a devastating knockout loss at the hands of Tai Tuivasa in February. Pavlovich is on a three-fight knockout streak, most recently in March. This is a massive fight for the landscape of the heavyweight division as there could very much be a changing of the guard.

Luke Rockhold returns for the first time since 2019 when he lost up at 205lbs to Jan Blachowicz. He returns back to middleweight where he has competed for the majority of his career. He takes on Paulo Costa, who is enduring a two-fight losing run. In his last bout, he turned up to fight week 25lbs overweight and therefore the bout was changed to a light heavyweight bout.

Magomed Ankalaev faces Anthony Smith in a potential title eliminator at 205lbs. Both men are enjoying winning streaks and the winner of the fight should certainly be calling out the winner of the UFC 276 main event.
