International Fight Week 2022 will come to an end on Sunday with the second-ever UFC Fight Pass Invitational.
UFC Fight Pass Invitational 2 will be a four-team Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu tournament with elimination rules. Teams will be comprised of four competitors, with the winning team receiving a $25,000 cash prize.
UFC Fight Pass Invitational 2 will stream live from the UFC Apex in Las Vegas on Sunday, July 3, at 5:00 p.m. ET/2:00 p.m. PT.
Rules & Regulations
Teams will start the competition paired off against another team in a semifinal format. Two men from each team will grapple with the winner remaining on the mat to face another member of the other team. In the event of a draw, where no submission is completed after eight minutes, both grapplers are eliminated. If both teams have an equal number of competitors at the end of the round, judges will render a decision for the winner. The last team standing will move onto the championship round where the same rules will apply.
Each team will feature a captain, each representing a regional MMA affiliate: UFC Hall of Famer Urijah Faber of A1 Combat, former UFC lightweight champion Anthony Pettis of Anthony Pettis Fighting Championship (APFC), UFC veteran James Krause of Fighting Alliance Championship (FAC) and inaugural UFC BMF champion Jorge Masvidal of Jorge Masvidal’s iKon MMA. Faber and Krause will be among the four competitors on their team in addition to holding captain status.
Bonus Bouts
Sunday’s invitational will also feature three grappling matches separate from the main competition between notable current and former fighters and jiu-jitsu practitioners. UFC featherweight Andre Fili is set to face second-degree black belt Shane Shapiro. Retired women’s MMA legend Roxanne Modafferi is also scheduled to compete against black belt Michele Oliveira.
