Bellator MMA looks to put on the second event in two weeks as Bellator 286 makes its mark this Saturday October 1st, in Long Beach, California headlined by Featherweight champion, Patricio Pitbull defending his throne against Number 2 ranked contender, Adam Borics.
Also, Co-headlining the event is A.J. McKee making his lightweight debut in front of his hometown, as he faces Spike Carlyle, and being preceded by Aaron Pico taking on Jeremy Kennedy at 145 lbs.
Main Event
Pitbull most recently defeated former champion, A.J. McKee at Bellator 277 to regain his spot as the featherweight king in a rematch. While it was expected that a trilogy fight would be made as both men had one against each other, it wasn’t meant to be as Adam Borics got the shot. Borics has been on an impressive streak winning four straight bouts, most notably against Aaron Pico and Mads Burnell. Under the Bellator banner, Borics is 9-1 with his lone loss being against Darrion Caldwell.
Aside from that bump on the road, Borics has proven to be a well-rounded fighter, winning seven of his fights by decision, four by knockout and six by submission, his biggest obstacle is that his opponent is also well-rounded if not just a tad bit better. Pitbull has the ability to grind a fight out for 15 or 25 minutes, knock his opponents out or lock them into submission.
All in all, it should be interesting to see where the fight goes, whether on the ground or on the feet and if Boric can get the better of the champ or not.

Meanwhile, for the former featherweight champion, A.J. McKee, he was hoping he would land that trilogy fight as mentioned earlier, with Pitbull or perhaps get a shot at his brother Patricky Pitbull at lightweight. Neither came to fruition, instead, McKee has been paired to fight Spike Carlyle in what could earn him some serious lightweight credentials and earn him the shot at Patricky, and given the fact McKee has had a rivalry with the Pitbull brothers, should McKee win, a shot at Patricky would be a no brainer.
Spike Carlyle is currently on a five-fight win streak, however, only has one of those under the Bellator promotion. He previously fought in the UFC going 1-2 in his three showings in the octagon. Unfortunately for Carlyle his luck gets tested facing McKee as the former champion is coming off his first-ever loss and currently surging for redemption.
