Danial Williams Ready for ‘MMA Throne’ on October 21st

Danial Williams has become one of the most exciting combat sports athletes today as he has delivered exciting performances each time he stepped into ONE Championship‘s Circle. The Aussie returns for a fantastic strawweight matchup against Jeremy Miado on Friday, October 21, at ONE on Prime Video 3: Lineker vs. Andrade. The platform will allow Williams to continue his run up the ranks as he makes a bid for titles across three sports.

The upcoming match will mark his fourth battle in nine months. Williams has won the previous three, two by knockout, and is beginning to call his shot against the division’s upper echelon. Although he was not expecting such a quick turnaround for a mixed martial arts contest, “Mini T” was happy to sign on the dotted line against Miado.

“I was happy with this matchup as soon as it was thrown to me. Didn’t even take two seconds to think twice about it. With that said, though, I was expecting a Muay Thai ONE Super Series fight because, after the last fight, I was actually getting my Muay Thai ready. But once the Miado offer came through, I just switched back to MMA, and now my focus is right back on here,” said Williams.

The rising contender is not looking past his Filipino opponent. With three consecutive wins under his belt, Miado is entering the matchup with his own agenda to make noise in the strawweight division. Williams understands that Miado offers a threat to where he wants to go and is not taking the task lightly. However, he sees many advantages for this exciting matchup.

“I love Jeremy Miado as a fighter. He’s exciting to watch. He’s got some good wins behind him against some really notable opponents. So, I’m not taking him lightly at all. He’s a good challenge. But I believe my power, speed, angles, and mobility will be my advantages against him. And I just feel that I’m going to be a little bit difficult for him because he’s never really fought a striker who can move like me. And I feel he’s a bit linear, straight-lined, and can be predictable with his shots. That’ll be his weakness that I want to exploit with my movement,” said “Mini-T.”

The Aussie did not offer a specific prediction by round, but he does expect to earn another stoppage inside the Circle. The lack of a round prediction is not hesitation but an understanding that he needs to evaluate the openings that could come at any given moment.

With a victory, Williams sees himself as a possible title contender. With the upcoming title tilt between ONE Strawweight World Champion Joshua Pacio and Jarred Brooks, the division is ripe for discovering the next contender. Regardless if that opportunity comes, Williams feels a win puts him among the elite, and he is ready to challenge every ranked star.

“I think I’d solidify my status as one of the potential opponents to the throne in MMA. From a Muay Thai front, I think I’m already up there. I mean, I’m in the rankings, but at the same time, I know I can give Joseph Lasiri a really good fight. I just want to stay busy and I know I’ll get my shot. At least I’m on the right track. I want the three-sport World Titles, so any of it will be a dream fight. But if they want me to fight number four, three, two, or one, I’d take it without thinking twice,” said Williams.

ONE on Prime Video 3: Lineker vs. Andrade airs live from the Axiata Arena in Kuala Lumpur on Friday, October 21, at 8 p.m. EST/5 p.m. PST.
