Greg Hardy Replaces Vitor Belfort Against Hasim Rahman Jr, New Bouts Added

Greg Hardy will face the son of legendary heavyweight Hasim Rahman in a boxing match this weekend due to his original  opponent, UFC veteran Vitor Belfort, contracting coronavirus. The fight is scheduled to headline the third edition of DAZN and Misfits Boxing’s “X SERIES” in Austin, Texas on Saturday night.

Greg Hardy Steps in on Short Notice, Replacing Vitor Belfort Against Hasim Rahman Jr.

The original bout between Hasim Rahman Jr. and Belfort was first booked for ‘X SERIES 002’ in England last month, but was moved to the next show for unknown reasons. However, Rahman Jr. was in attendance at that show, so it seems likely there was an issue on Belfort’s side. Promises have already been made that the bout will be rearranged once more, but it will not be until at least February.

Greg Hardy, a former NFL player, recently made the jump from MMA to boxing when he was knocked out in three straight UFC bouts and cut from the promotion. Weeks later, it was announced he had signed a multi-fight contract with the Bare Knuckle Fighting Championships, BKFC—he is yet to make his debut. Hardy’s only experience in professional boxing came last month when he knocked out Mike Cook just fourteen seconds into the second round.

Hasim Rahman Jr. has ingratiated himself into the celebrity boxing world since his scheduled fight with Jake Paul collapsed at the last minute earlier this year. He most recently competed in April when he took his first professional loss to the son of another recognized name: Kenzie Morrison, son of former WBO and IBC heavyweight champion Tommy Morrison. Rahman has since trained alongside, and called out KSI: a pioneer of the new wave of influencer fight shows, and co-promoter of this event.

An additional fight was added to the card along with the announcement of this replacement. FaZe Temperr will return to the ring against Overtflow. Temperr was flatlined by Slim Albaher on the first Misfits Boxing show in August, and will seek redemption against the man whom his teammate FaZe Sensei stopped on the undercard of KSI vs Logan Paul back in 2018. Overtflow rose to prominence through his gaming videos but has a wealth of prior martial arts experience, he is a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu black belt, and taught self-defense classes for the UFC.

DAZN & Misfits Boxing’s “X SERIES 003” goes down this Saturday in Austin, Texas. It can be watched for free on DAZN. The broadcast will also contain the announcement of KSI’s next opponent, a fight that will go down on the next “X SERIES” show in January.
