Jake Paul and Tommy Fury will settle the score at long last when they meet at the Diriyah Arena in Riyadh, Saudia Arabia on Sunday afternoon. The social media influencer will meet the reality television star and professional boxer in an eight-round cruiserweight contest that looks to answer several questions about both fighters.
The card will air live on ESPN+ beginning at 2 p.m. ET/11 a.m. PT, with the main event slated to begin around 5 p.m. ET/2 p.m. PT. MMA Sucka has you covered with up-to-the-minute results of what could be a special Sunday card.
Main Event – Paul vs. Fury
The well-documented war of words between Paul and Fury has transpired for well over a year by this point. The two have been previously scheduled to fight on two separate occasions. The third time turned out to be the charm, however, with the two budding stars set to meet in an overseas ring.
Paul, who has said on numerous occasions he has world championship aspirations in the sport of boxing, is 6-0 with four knockouts. While his critics have cited his lack of having faced a “real” boxer to this point in his career, while unorthodox, Paul has faced a traditionally higher level of competition than many can’t-miss boxing prospects have to face on their way to the top. Three of his six wins have come against the likes of former UFC champions Tyron Woodley and Anderson Silva. While he claims to not be overlooking his opponent, Paul has expressed a desire to fight three times this year, with boxing matches against former UFC welterweight Nate Diaz and fellow influencer JJ “KSI” Olatunji to follow.
Fury, meanwhile, is 8-0 with his latest win coming in an exhibition against Rolly Lambert in 2022. Tommy Fury is the younger half-brother of lineal heavyweight champion, Tyson Fury, one of the greatest fighters in the world at the moment. Tommy’s association with Tyson creates a unique pressure that comes with a motivation to one day step out of his brother’s shadow. Given the number of eyeballs that will be on him, Sunday could be a golden opportunity for the younger brother to do just that. With both fighters having plenty to lose and gain, Sunday’s bout should be must-see television for both hardcore and casual boxing fans.
Paul vs. Fury sits atop a five-fight card, with Ilunga Makabu set to defend his WBC cruiserweight championship against Sweden’s Badou Jack in the co-main event.
