Luis Gurule Hopes to be in UFC by End of 2023: ‘My Record Speaks for Itself’

Luis Gurule improved to 5-0 as a professional mixed martial artist when he TKO’d Carlos Lozoya at Fury FC 79 on May 7.

The flyweight prospect said he hopes to be in the UFC by the end of 2023. He’s aiming for a Contender Series shot, and from there, is shooting to impress UFC President Dana White.

“Judging from my record, I think a devastating finish is definitely in the books for me,” Gurule told MMASucka. “I feel like I could be fighting in the UFC by the end of the year.”

Gurule believes his shot on the Contender Series will come sooner rather than later.

“I think my record speaks for itself,” he said. “I have seven straight TKOs. Only two fights have gone past the first round. I think I’m definitely putting myself out there. I’m one of the top contenders in the nation for sure, so I think I deserve that spot on the Dana White Contender Series.”

“Grim” is hoping to book his next fight as soon as possible. He signed a four-fight deal with Fury FC ahead of his finish of Lozoya.

Gurule would be “super interested” in a title fight.

“Honestly, I think I can crush anybody in my division in Fury. I think it’d be a good one for me. It’d give me another reason why I should be getting onto that next level. A lot of my team, like Brandon Royval, he won the LFA title and got signed into the UFC. That’s happened to a couple of my other teammates. If that’s what it takes, that’s what it takes. I want to get another TKO and solidify my position as one of the top contenders.”

Gurule said he would also consider signing with an organization like ONE Championship or the Professional Fighters League, both of which have been making big splashes lately.

ONE Championship made its United States debut in Broomfield, Colorado on May 5, when former UFC flyweight king Demetrious Johnson defended his ONE title against Adriano Moraes, taking the trilogy.

The PFL recently won the Francis Ngannou sweepstakes, signing the former UFC heavyweight champion.

“It just depends on what the contract looks like,” Gurule said of a potential signing. “ONE just had their first event over here, and that looked awesome. Rodtang and Demetrious Johnson are some of my favorite fighters ever. That’d be awesome to be on the same cards as them or maybe even eventually share the ring with them. That would be really difficult to say ‘no’ to if I ever got a chance with ONE.”

Gurule is aware of “Mighty Mouse’s” plans to retire sooner rather than later.

“If ONE wants me, please reach out.”
