LFA 162 Results

Legacy Fighting Alliance is returns to São Paulo to present LFA 162: Conceição vs. Lopes at the Ginásio do Polvilho in Cajamar, São Paulo, Brazil. Just over a month removed from their last Brazilian event, LFA is ready to deliver an exciting fight card full of finishes from the most talented prospects in Brazil. With LFA’s strawweight queen Julia Polastri earning another shot on Dana White’s Contender Series, an interim title fight has been scheduled to take place in tonight’s main event.

A clash styles meet for the interim strawweight championship when Rose Conceição (6-0) and Elaine Lopes (6-1) enter the cage. Conceição has a bit of a unique base for Brazilian MMA with her being a former Brazilian National Wrestling Champion. In her promotional debut last year, Conceição showcased a variety of takedowns and trips and excellent cardio and activity throught the whole fight. Now with 5 rounds versus a step up in competition, Conceição is looking to show off her unique game against a fighter with a completely different style. Lopes is a very high level striker who just recently received a silver medal IFMA Senior World Championships. She also known for defeating Aline Pereira, the sister of Alex Pereira, in a kickboxing bout a few years back. Lopes has also looked great in MMA with her only loss coming from ONE strawweight Dayane Cardoso in her LFA debut. Both of these talented women are aiming to become the next best strawweight out of LFA’s Brazil scene with a win here in tonight’s main event.

Tonight’s co-main slot will be occupied by Chute Boxe’s Wellington Prado (13-2) and knock out artist Márcio Barbosa (13-2) in a featherweight matchup that should end in spectacular fashion. Chute Boxe has been on a tear lately producing some of the most high paced and relentless fighters in the UFC. Last week was a great example when Elves Brenner pulled off another huge upset, this time against top lightweight Guram Kutateladze. Prado should be no different here with 11 of his 13 pro wins ending in a first or second round finish. He’ll have the perfect dance partner to put on an entertaining fight in Márcio Barbosa. With an impressive 10 first round knockouts, Barbosa is not someone most fighters would want to test on the feet. Barbosa even had some moments early against UFC fighter and former LFA featherweight champion Gabriel Santos until getting caught with a head kick in the second round. Be prepared for a fight of the night or finish of the night when these lethal featherweights square off.

There are quite a few returning Brazilian prospects coming off of highlight knockouts in their most recent outing with the promotion. Coming off the fastest finish in his career, Jefferson Nascimento (9-0) takes on Italo Gomes (12-3) who holds a win over UFC fighter Melquizael Costa. Another hard hitting lightweight prospect in Gabriel Costa (7-0) returns after scoring a brutal left hook knockout in his last performance. His teammate Michael Oliveira (4-0) might have the most raw knockout power of them all with 5 first round knockouts in a row stretching back to his lone amateur fight just a couple of years ago. Lastly, heavyweight prospect Guilherme Uriel (3-0) left many fight fans impressed with his head kick knockout earlier this year.

MMA Sucka will have live coverage for LFA 162: Conceição vs. Lopes as it airs live on UFC Fight Pass at 9pm E.T./6pm P.T.
