Fiziev vs Gamrot Official for Sept 23rd

On September 23rd, the UFC’s apex in Las Vegas will be headlined by a 155lbs clash as the UFC finalized a deal between number six ranked Rafael Fiziev and number seven Mateusz Gamrot.

Fiziev (12-2) is coming off a majority decision loss to recently crowned BMF champion, Justin Gaethje at UFC 286 in March. Going into the Gaethje bout, the 30 year old Muay Thai specialist had won six in a row that included a knockout over former lightweight champion Rafael Dos Anjos last July.

Fiziev got off to a strong start against Gaethje but in the second half of the fight fell victim to the former interim lightweight champion’s constant pressure and power as the fight went on, being dealt a great deal of damage to Fiziev.

Gamrot (22-2), is 5-2 in the UFC. The Polish fighter has fought some of the best in the division. In his last three appearances, he defeated Arman Tsarukyan by decision, then followed it up to a loss against Beneil Dariush and got back on track with a win against Jalin Turner by split decision.

This highly anticipated meeting between two very exciting fighters with contrasting styles should be a big indicator to show who is more equipped to once again challenge a top five contender in route to climbing the rankings.
