Junior dos Santos sees UFC’s title fights as “kind of out of order”

Recently the UFC announced that former middleweight contender Chael Sonnen would get a crack at the light-heavyweight champ Jon Jones. UFC President Dana White also stated that upon his return from suspension, Alistair Overeem would be next in line for an opportunity to challenge UFC Heavyweight Champion Junior Dos Santos.

In what could be considered bizarre behavior by the always polite Dos Santos, the champion criticized the UFC, claiming the company isn’t doing things properly and are just trying to sell fight.

“It’s kind of out of order. Nowadays, the UFC is prioritizing those fights which will sell well. A prime example of this was Chael Sonnen, who sold his fight very well. Overeem has followed the same path. But, for me, bring it on. I do not run from any challenge, I know I can beat anyone whatsoever. Come whoever comes, I will do my best to go out with a win in the Octagon.”

Clearly Dos Santos is less than pleased with the UFC’s handling of the championship situation.

Sonnen has now smack-talked his way into title opportunities in two different weight divisions. He lost to middleweight champion Anderson Silva twice, at UFC 117 and UFC 148, and now will receive another opportunity at championship gold.

Overeem, on the other hand, dominated former UFC heavyweight champ Brock Lesnar in his promotional debut at UFC 141 and was set to fight for the world title in the spring of 2012. Due to elevated levels of Testosterone, Overeem was suspended before the bout, originally scheduled for UFC 146, could take place.

Junior dos Santos is set to face Cain Velasquez for the UFC Heavyweight Championsup at UFC 155 on December 29 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
