The interim LFA women’s flyweight championship will be up for grabs at LFA 193, when 4-1 Cheyanne Bowers meet 6-0 Veronika Borisova out of Russia. Friday night’s show is set to emanate from the Mystic Lake Casino Hotel in Prior Lake, Minnesota.

Interim Flyweight Championship — Bowers vs. Borisova

Since her pro debut that ended with her submitting to a scarf hold armbar, Bowers has rattled off four consecutive victories, three of which have come in the LFA cage. The 30-year-old has a great finishing instinct about her, with three of those four wins coming by way of finish. She knocked out her last opponent with ground and pound, and even dating back to her 7-1 amateur career, Bowers’ gameplan is generally centered around getting her opponents to the ground and finding a finish. She has five finishes as an amateur, and recently 30-25’d Aline Pereira, sister of UFC light heavyweight champion Alex Pereira.

Unbeaten Borisova has also flashed plus-finishing ability for the weight class, with two knockouts and a rear naked choke on her professional record. She has primarily fought on the Russian regional scene, but won her LFA debut her last time out against Nejra Repp over the summer. Like her opponent, Borisova, too, has finished opponents on the ground. If the grappling cancels out, expect a brawl that has the potential to reach the judges’ scorecards.

The current odds see Borisova as a -165 favorite on most sportsbooks, while Bowers can be had for around a +130 price tag.

Rest of the Card

The co-main event will see Mitchell McKee take on Ashton Caniglia at 135 pounds. The bantamweight division is among the deepest divisions of MMA in the world at this point, but McKee has managed to stand out with a 6-0 record that features dominant moments in every fight. After starting his career with four finishes, McKee’s last two bouts have gone to decision, but either way, a 7-0 record compiled primarily in LFA will do wonders for McKee’s standing among major promotions, that is, if he can get past Caniglia.

Elsewhere on the main card, flyweight veteran Nate Smith is set for action against Canadian prospect Devon Lozej. Smith has bounced between flyweight and bantamweight as of late with his most recent defeat coming at the hands of Caniglia nearly two years to the date. Former University of Minnesota Golden Gophers wrestler Michael Blockhus is also set for some home cooking on the main card when he battles 1-0 19-year-old Rolan Pruden in the featherweight division. Two 3-0 heavyweights are also set for action in Minnesota with Steven Asplund and Alvin Hines both set for main card action.
