Fury FC 96: Silva vs. Gurule Results

The Fury FC flyweight championship will be defended at Fury FC 96, which is set to emanate live from Houston, Texas on Sunday afternoon. The vacant title will be contested between 21-fight veteran Jacob Silva and up-and-coming flyweight prospect Luis Gurule.

Fight fans can catch Fury FC 96 streaming live on UFC Fight Pass, with the main card set to begin at 5:30 p.m. ET/2:30 p.m. PT.

Fury FC Flyweight Championship — Jacob Silva vs. Luis Gurule

For 21-fight veteran Jacob Silva, Sunday’s main event is a make-or-break fight. Silva is 11-10 in his career, a two-time veteran of Dana White’s Contender Series and a Fury FC mainstay from his fifth fight on. However, he has won three of his last four fights and is among the toughest flyweight to finish in the Fury FC cage.

Gurule, however, is 8-0 and is yet to see the same kind of adversity Silva has. While he has controlled his last three opponents with relative ease over three rounds, Gurule actually opened his career 5-0 with five finishes, flashing an all-around MMA game and winning fights by simply being better in his opponent in most areas.

Rest of the Card

Sunday’s card will see a co-main event between Hector Saenz and Tedrick Macklin at 155 pounds. Macklin dropped his first fight most recently against Devon Dixon, another talented lightweight, in a close split decision. Prior to that, like Gurule, his career had been primarily one-way traffic so it will be interesting to see how he responds against Saenz, who is also looking to respond after a first-round RNC defeat to Mansher Khera.

Also on the main card, unbeaten Mexican prospect Imanol Rodriguez will look to see if he can show further promise against Alberto Trujillo in the flyweight division. Alivia Bierley is also set for action on the main card, though after a promising amateur career, she stumbled in her professional debut against Maya Stewart. She will look to earn her first professional win against Nadia Chmil.
