Invicta FC 60 is almost here. It’s an anticipated weekend in the world of sports this second weekend in February, with Super Bowl LIX happening Sunday night in New Orleans. While the Kansas City Chiefs and Philadelphia Eagles will be prepping for one of the year’s biggest sporting events, not everybody will be concerning themselves with the NFL finale.
Before the kickoff on Sunday, the MMA weekend begins on Friday night and it does so with an example of a popular adage: “Ladies before gentlemen.” A little less than two months removed from Invicta FC 59 taking place in Atlanta at The Eastern, Shannon Knapp‘s organization makes its second consecutive trip to the Peach State, this time at Center Stage for Invicta FC 60.
Live coverage of the event commences with the prelims at 5:30 pm ET/ 2:30 pm PT on the official Invicta FC YouTube channel before moving onto CBS Sports Network (United States viewers only) at 7 pm ET/ 4 pm PT for action from the main card. All told, Invicta FC 60 features seven MMA bouts.
Change to Invicta FC 60 Main Card
A week ago, the card was to have featured a featherweight affair between Jackie Cataline (5-3 MMA, 1-0 Invicta FC) and Jamie Edenden (5-2-1 MMA, 1-0 Invicta FC) but earlier on in fight week, this contest was postponed after Cataline was handed a medical suspension as a result of her appearance in Power Slap last Thursday night versus Sheena Bathory.
Jackie Cataline emerged victorious from her fight against Bathory and Invicta FC officials are rescheduling the contest for Invicta FC 61. All other fights on the main card will proceed as originally scheduled.
Invicta FC 60 Main Event: Olga Rubin vs. Mayra Cantuaria
To top the card on Friday night, action takes place in the bantamweight division when Olga Rubin (9-4 MMA, 2-2 Invicta FC) collides with Mayra Cantuaria (10-6-1, 1 NC MMA, 1-1 Invicta FC). Rubin enters the main event of the evening with a record of 3-2 in her last five fights.
Back in June of last year, during the promotion’s opening show for 2024, Invicta FC 55, she was on the losing end of a second-round submission (rear-naked choke) vs. then-current champion Talita Bernardo (11-5 MMA, 4-1 Invicta FC) in her first defense of the title during the main event of the evening. Rubin hasn’t had a sustained winning streak in MMA since rattling off a five-fight streak to begin her professional career.
Will getting her hand raised in victory during Invicta FC 60 start a prolonged run of victories? Only time will tell.
In the other corner, Mayra Cantuaria comes into the show having gone 2-3 over the course of her last five contests. Last August, she sustained a unanimous decision defeat at the hands of incumbent bantamweight titleholder Jennifer Maia (23-10-1 MMA, 6-2 Invicta FC) during the main event of Invicta FC 56 from Denver.
Much like Olga Rubin going into this weekend, Mayra Cantuaria is also hungry for a victory, having dropped three out of her last four fights in MMA.
Invicta FC 60 Co-Main Event: Shanna Young vs. Katharina Lehner
More bantamweight action takes place in the co-main event of the evening when Shanna Young (10-7 MMA, 2-1 Invicta FC) makes the walk to the cage against Katharina Lehner (8-5 MMA, 1-3 Invicta.) Young enters Invicta FC 60 having gone 1-4 in her last five fights.
An alumnae of the 2024 PFL season, she righted the ship last time out with a first-round knockout in just 23 seconds versus Pamela Boveda Aguirre (5-5 MMA, 0-1 Invicta) on Nov. 6 of last year during Invicta FC 58 in Memorial Hall in Kansas City, KS by way of knee strikes followed by punches. With Young getting her hand raised last fall, can she use the victory as momentum for her second win in a row?
Across the way, Katharina Lehner comes into the weekend on a 1-4 mark of her own. Back in October of 2023, she was defeated by third-round knockout (punches) against Melissa Croden (6-2 MMA) in LFA 169 from Dallas.
While Lehner has stayed busy in combat sports with contests in traditional boxing, BKFC, and Power Slap, this is her first MMA contest in more than a year’s time, going 0-4 in her hiatus away from the sport. Will a return to MMA yield a favorable result this time around?
Invicta FC 60: Victoria Leonardo vs. Rayla Nascimento
Also on the main card this Friday is a flyweight contest matching Victoria Leonardo (10-6 MMA, 4-2 Invicta) with Rayla Nascimento (10-10 MMA, Invicta FC promotional debut.) Leonardo enters the bout with a record of 2-3 in her last five fights.
In November of last year, she made her Invicta FC promotional return with a third-round submission victory by armbar in one minute and 56 seconds over Amanda Torres (9-8 MMA, 0-1 Invicta FC.) Leonardo has won two fights in a row under the Invicta promotional banner dating back to September of 2020. Can she make it a third straight victory in the promotion?
Meanwhile, Rayla Nascimento is sporting a 3-2 record in her last five bouts ahead of Invicta FC 60. Back in September of 2024, she ended a two-fight losing streak with a unanimous decision win vs. 20-fight veteran Viviane Pereira (16-4 MMA, 1-1 Invicta) during XFC 51: Evolution. Friday’s card marks her first appearance on American soil, so will she be able to win in the states?
