DWCS 81 Results: Ninth Year Reaches Midseason With Thrilling Card

DWCS 81, the fifth week of season nine of Contender Series, is here! Tonight, the UFC Apex in Enterprise, NV is the site of the Tuesday night MMA promotion’s latest event. After tonight’s event, the season will be halfway to completion.


Live coverage of the show begins this evening at 8 pm ET/ 5 pm PT. Inside the United States of America, tonight’s card will be seen via ESPN+. After a mostly-successful weigh-in window yesterday morning, tonight’s schedule of five fights will take place inside the UFC Apex.

DWCS 81 Main Event

At the top of the bill tonight, the heavyweights take to the cage as undefeated Anthony Guarascio (3-0, 1 NC MMA) meets up with short-notice opponent Steven Asplund (5-1 MMA,) an alumnus of the LFA. All fights will be three rounds at five minutes per round.

DWCS 81 Co-Main Event

Immediately prior to the headlining fight, the DWCS 81 co-main attraction happens at featherweight. Cam Teague (9-1 MMA, 0-1 DWCS) makes his second effort at getting a UFC deal by way of Contender Series versus LerryAn Douglas (12-5 MMA.)

Also tonight, you’ll be seeing a light heavyweight tilt between Felipe Franco (8-0 MMA) and Freddy Vidal (3-0 MMA), a lightweight contest versing Cage Warriors alumnus Chasen Blair (7-2 MMA, 0-1 DWCS) with Samuel Sanches (10-1 MMA) in Blair’s second DWCS fight in as many years, and a strawweight fight matching Shanelle Dyer (6-0 MMA) with Carol Foro (8-1 MMA.)

DWCS 81 Main Event:  Steven Asplund def. Anthony Guarascio by TKO (Punches followed by Elbows from Ground and Pound) at 0:16 into Round 1. Third-quickest knockout in DWCS history.  Asplund awarded UFC contract. 

Co-Main Event:  LerryAn Douglas def. Cam Teague by KO (Left Hook) at 0:36 into Round 1. Tied for seventh-quickest knockout in DWCS promotional history. Douglas awarded UFC contract.

Freddy Vidal def. Felipe Franco by Submission (Rear-Naked Choke) at 4:48 into Round 3. Vidal returning during season finale on Oct. 14.

Samuel Sanches def. Chasen Blair by KO (Overhand Right followed by Left Hook) at 2:01 into Round 1. Sanches awarded UFC contract. 

Carol Foro def. Shanelle Dyer by Unanimous Decision (30-27, 29-28, 29-28.) Foro and Dyer each awarded UFC contracts.
