UFC commentator Joe Rogan had some fine words on his podcast ‘The Joe Rogan Experience’ about Olympic Gold Medalist Freestyle Wrestler and current undefeated MMA prospect, Gable Steveson.
He started by saying, “The heavyweight division is so devoid of talent.” But followed up with, “Gable Steveson is the fucking guy.”

Steveson was a gold medalist at the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo. He was also the 2021 Pan American Champion in Freestyle Wrestling. On his Wikipedia page, Steveson holds a freestyle wrestling record of 40-6.
In September 2025, the 25-year-old made his professional MMA debut at LFA 217, where he earned a first-round TKO against Braden Peterson. Just over two months later, he followed that victory up with a first-round knockout against Kevin Hein at Anthony Pettis FC 21.
Joe Rogan talked about the knockout with serious excitement, “He KO’d this guy with a left hand and then took him down as he was knocked out.
It’s so crazy, the speed that this guy has. First of all, really good striking already, and he’s only been striking for like a fucking year.”
Steveson wasn’t facing MMA veterans; instead, he was facing fellow up-and-comers. Peterson had a 1-0 professional record coming into their bout, while Hein was 2-1.
The heavyweight born in Portage, Indiana, is fighting under the illustrious Jackson Wink gym.
Rogan went on to say, “He’s not even in the UFC yet. Olympic gold medallist, fucking freak athlete, 250 pounds, moves like a cat.
Rogan Made Sure Dana Knew About Gable Steveson
“I sent a text message to Dana White, I sent him a video of Gable’s last fight, I said everyone’s fucked.”
The heavyweight division could definitely be put on blast if and when Steveson enters the Octagon and puts himself in front of the best in the UFC. As Rogan says, “that kind of speed is nuts for a heavyweight.”
How long do you think it will be until we see Steveson under the UFC umbrella?
