Anderson Silva has signed a new 10-fight UFC contract extension

The UFC Middleweight Champion Anderson Silva has signed a new 10-fight UFC contract. The 37-year old is 16-0 in his UFC career with 11 of those coming by way of knockout and three by submission.

It was only two years ago when Silva’s manager Ed Soares said that his fighter desired to retire when he was 35. Now two years later, according to UFC President Dana White, Silva who is 37 has signed a new 10-fight deal.

“Ten. He signed a 10-fight deal. I don’t think we’ve ever done a 10-fight deal. Maybe we did one with Forrest once, I don’t remember, but Anderson said, ‘I want a 10-fight deal, not an eight-fight deal.’ I’ll give him a 100-fight deal if he wants one.” – via MMAWeekly.com

Silva fought twice in 2012; he destroyed Chael Sonnen in their much anticipated rematch and saved a card when he took on Stephan Bonnar back in October.

According to White, Silva will likely defend his middleweight title in 2013 against the winner of the Michael Bisping and Vitor Belfort match-up at UFC on FX 7. Super-fights have been a topic at mass as well, but it doesn’t sound as if that will happen in his next match-up.
