Gegard Mousasi signs to Bellator

Monday starts off with a bang!

Gegard Mousasi ranked #4 in the middleweight division has left the UFC after contract negotiations did not go according to plan.

Gegard Mousasi signs to Bellator

Gegard Mousasi has officially signed with Bellator to a multi-fight deal. He is one of many that have left the UFC on a win streak. We are seeing more fighters sign over since the Reebok deal was announced between the UFC and Reebok. Allegedly the UFC’s new lawyer in charge of Mousasi negation said he did not think Mousasi was big enough name to justify a pay raise. Mousasi is no stranger to Scott Coker; Coker signed Mousasi back in 2009 to Strikeforce where he would go on to become the light heavyweight champion.

Thankfully, Scott Coker and Bellator MMA disagreed. Mousasi is no stranger to Scott Coker; Coker signed Mousasi back in 2009 to Strikeforce where he would go on to become the light heavyweight champion.

At this point in time, we can only assume that Mousasi will either get a title shot immediately or after one fight in Bellator. Mousasi left the UFC on a six-fight win streak with his latest win against former champion Chris Weidman. Mousasi’s current record is 42–6–2 with notable wins over Dan Henderson, Vitor Belfort, Uriah Hall. Mousasi was on his way to a middleweight title fight, but with a backlog of fighters waiting for the shot, it would be anyone’s guess when he would have a saw that.
