With Clay Guida injured, Darren Elkins has stepped in to take on Chad Mendes at UFC on FOX 7 on April 20.
UFC officials announced the match-up on Tuesday.
Elkins (16-2) fought this past weekend at UFC 158 where he beat Antonio Carvalho by TKO in the very first round. Although controversial, it was Elkins fifth win in a row in the featherweight division.
Mendes (13-1) lost his lone professional MMA bout in a championship fight against Jose Aldo at UFC 142. Since that loss he has won two straight against Cody McKenzie and Yaotzin Meza.
UFC on FOX 7 will go down on April 20 from the HP Pavilion in San Jose, California. The main event will be for the lightweight championship as Benson Henderson puts his title on the line against Strikeforce lightweight champ Gilbert Melendez.
