Brian Bowles returns to the Octagon against George Roop at UFC 160

Former WEC Bantamweight Champion Brian Bowles will return to the Octagon for the first time since November 2011 at UFC 160, where he will square off against George Roop.

UFC officials announced the latest UFC 160 bout on Thursday.

Bowles (10-2) made his UFC debut at UFC 139 when he lost to Urijah Faber. He won the WEC Bantamweight title when he shocked the world by knocking out Miguel Torres. Bowles then lost the title in his next bout to current UFC champ Dominic Cruz.

He has gone 2-1 in his last three outings.

Roop (13-9-1) made his return to the bantamweight division in his last fight and won a unanimous decision against Reuben Duran. Since returning to the UFC, Roop has not fared too well going 2-3.

A huge bantamweight at 6’1″ with a 73″ reach, Roop could provide many challenges in the division.

UFC 160 will go down on May 25 from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. The main event will be for the UFC heavyweight championship as Cain Velasquez will take on Antonio “Bigfoot” Silva. Also announced for the UFC 160 card is former heavyweight champ Junior dos Santos vs. Mark Hunt.
