The Pacific Xtreme Combat, one of the most reputable MMA organizations in the region, has announced a couple of match-ups for PXC 37, the latest installment of the Guam-based promotion.
PXC 37 is set to go down on May 18th, at the Ynares Sports Arena situated in Pasig City, Philippines.
The event will be headlined by a Bantamweight title tilt between current title-holder Crisanto “The Slugger” Pitpitunge (4-1) and Japanese phenom, Michinori Tanaka (7-0).
A Lightweight scrap pitting promotional veteran Glen Ranillo (2-2) against Singapore’s Syafiq ‘The Slasher’ (1-0) has also been slated to the fight card.
Officials confirmed the match-ups via the PXC website and Facebook.
A former Shooto veteran, Tanaka is unbeaten in his professional MMA career thus far, and has already recorded 2 stoppage wins in PXC. He was last seen at PXC 36 where he submitted Caleb Vallotton en route to earning his title shot. Pitpitunge, in the meantime, is unbeaten under the PXC banner too. He garnered the Bantamweight strap at PXC 31, when he KO’ed Justin Cruz in the 1st stanza. The only blemish of Pitpitunge’s career came against none other than rising MMA superstar, Mark Striegl.
Dubbed by many as Singapore’s top MMA fighter, Juggernaut Fight Club’s Syafiq ‘The Slasher’ will be looking to showcase his striking prowess on May 18th. A striker by nature, ‘The Slasher’ has also been working diligently on his ground game, and that paid dividends in his submission win over Donald Tong in his professional MMA debut. Glen Ranillo, on the other hand, has been tasked to welcome this rambunctious striker to the promotion. All of Ranillo’s professional MMA bouts have taken place in PXC, and the 29-year-old will be looking to use his experience to defeat ‘The Slasher’.
A Flyweight title bout and a 4-man Featherweight tournament has been tapped for the event, however, there’s no official word yet. Keep it locked to MMASucka.com for more news and updates regarding this event.
