Mirko Filipovich vs Aleksander Emelianenko reportedly being booked

While nothing has been set in stone, it appears that a rematch between “CroCop” and the younger Emelianenko brother will be squaring off, most likely for the new Russian fight promotion, “Legend.” The two originally fought in Pride FC back in 2004, with the Croatian scoring the win by knockout in the first round.

Mirko Filipovich vs Aleksander Emelianenko reportedly being booked

The news comes from Croatia’s FightSite.hr, and was provided “CroCop’s” manager, Orsat Sovko.

Mirko “CroCop” Filipovich (28-10-2, 1 N/C) is quite probably the most well-known Croatian athlete around world. A champion kickboxer with a fierce sprawl and lethal head kicks, “CroCop” has 21 wins by stoppage or submission due to strikes. Although he was supposed to have retired in 2011 after a kickboxing match with Ray Sefo, the lure of the ring called Mirko back into active duty. Will he be able to topple the younger Emelianenko again?

Aleksander Emelianenko (22-6) will forever be linked to his older, more successful brother, Fedor. While a competent heavyweight, he has struggled with Top-20 competition in the past, losing to Jeff Monson as recently as November 2012. He has since rebounded with a win over MMA’s “jobber to the stars” Bob Sapp in the main event of the debut card for Legend Fights. Will he be able to gain revenge against his Croatian foe?
