John Howard re-hired by UFC, replaces Josh Samman vs. Uriah Hall at UFC on FS1 1

An injury to the most devious man of the Ultimate Fighter’s 17th season has had a positive result for at least one fighter. With Samman out injured, “Doomsday” is coming back to the UFC.

The Boston Herald reported earlier today that Josh Samman was out of the fight, with Bloody Elbow later confirming that it was due to a torn meniscus that will require surgery. The Herald was also the one to report Johon Howard as Samman’s replacement.

John Howard re-hired by UFC, replaces Josh Samman vs. Uriah Hall at UFC on FS1 1

John “Doomsday” Howard (20-8) initially came to the UFC as a welterweight, going 4-0 before going on a 3 fight losing skid that eventually saw him cut from the promotion. Since then, “Doomsday” has gone back up to middleweight and been terrorising the regional circuit, even capturing the CES MMA 185 lbs. title. A savage striker, “Doomsday” will be looking to bring the fight to Hall in an effort to leave him looking up at the lights. Will Howard be able to return to the UFC in a blaze of glory, or will Hall send him crashing down in flames?

Uriah Hall (7-3) was pegged by many, including Dana White, to go all the way in the 17th season of the Ultimate Fighter, and nearly made it before running into a roadblock named Kelvin Gastelum. The Team Tiger Schullman product will be looking to rebound from that split decision loss with a decisive victory over the returning Howard. A dynamic and powerful striker, Hall has shown an ability to knock people senseless with uncanny aplomb, be it with a spinning back kick or with punches from the bottom in guard. Will his fearsome power be brought to bear in order to spoil “Doomsday’s” second coming?

UFC on FS1 1 will take place on August 17th, 2013 at the TD Garden Arena in Boston, MA. The main event is scheduled to be a five round light heavyweight war between Mauricio “Shogun” Rua and “The Gangster from West Lynn” Chael Sonnen.
