Dana White says Anthony Pettis vs Benson Henderson trilogy fight isn’t logical

We’ve seen trilogy fights go down when there is a need for a rubber match. This is not the case with Anthony Pettis and Benson Henderson – at UFC 164, Pettis proved he had Henderson’s number by beating him in the very first round.

Dana White says Anthony Pettis vs Benson Henderson trilogy fight isn’t logical

Obviously fans would want to see a third fight between the two, but it just does not seem to make sense. Their first go-round at WEC 53 was definitely one of the best fights in the organizations history and provided us with the “Showtime Kick”, but their second tussle was not the same. Pettis showed he had no fear stepping in the Octagon with the divisions best and annihilated him with a first round armbar.

According to UFC President Dana White if a trilogy fight occurs, it won’t be any time soon. At the UFC 164 post-fight press conference media scrum, White made that clear.

“Definitely, that is definitely the case. We had the fight with Ben and Frankie [Edgar] where some people thought he won; there’s no fu-king denying who won this fight. It was a first-round annihilation. Kind of like the Vitor-Anderson thing.”

After defeating Henderson and taking home the UFC’s lightweight belt, Pettis stated that he has “unfinished business” with featherweight champ Jose Aldo. There is another man in the lightweight division that has proved his worth as well and that is number one contender T.J. Grant.

However Pettis popped his knee during the main event bout, so an upcoming fight isn’t the first thing on his mind – recovery is.
