UFC vet Marcos Vinicius takes on Taiyo Nakahara at Rebel FC 1: Into the Lion’s Den

Fresh off his stint with the UFC, it appears that “TUF: Brazil” alumni Marcos Vinicius will be making his next appearance under the Rebel Fighting Championship banner.

Officials today announced that Vinicius (20-5-1) will be taking on Japan’s Taiyo Nakahara (13-7) at Rebel FC’s inaugural “Into the Lion’s Den” event, that is set to take place on December 21 at the Singapore Indoor Stadium.

With seven amateur MMA bouts in the prelims, Vinicius-Nakahara will reside in the pro MMA portion of the fight card which will feature a headliner between Phuket Top Team’s Rob Lisita (12-5) and Takeshi Inoue (21-8), and a co-main event pitting Syafiq Samad (2-0) against Gyo Pyung Hwang (3-3) at 155-lbs.

Following a victory over Wagner Campos that garnered “Knockout of the Night” honors in his octagon debut at UFC 147, Marcos Vinicius fell short in his next two outings, dropping consecutive stoppage defeats that eventually led to his departure from the organization. Despite the negatives, though, the 33-year-old Brazilian has finished all of his twenty pro victories in his career thus far, and has only seen the distance twice. Vinicius brings lots of experience to his Rebel FC promotional debut, making him a huge favorite in garnering a victory in this one.

He’s set to face Taiyo Nakahara, a two-time Legend FC vet who’s gone 5-1 in his past six outings. Having faced high caliber opponents like Ivan Menjivar, Hideo Tokoro and Rani Yahya, the 30-year-old Japanese fighter will be looking to use that experience to get the better of his much fancied opponent come fight night on December 21, as he prepares to strut his skills under the bright lights of Rebel Fighting Championship.
