Luke Rockhold injured and forced off 'Strikeforce: Champions' Jan. 12 card

Strikeforce Middleweight Champion Luke Rockhold has suffered a wrist injury and has been forced to withdraw from the January 12th ‘Strikeforce: Champions’ fight card.

The news was first announced by The MMA Corner.

Rockhold was originally slated to fight Lorenz Larkin in November at the Oklahoma City card, however that fight was scrapped due to an injury similar to this one.

On Sunday, Larkin went to Twitter and told UFC President Dana White how he felt about these recent string of injuries.

@danawhite hey Dana I hurt my right pinky toe guess I can’t fight wish I started 2 years before I did so I could have skipped this pussy era

He then followed up with this Tweet, also to White.

@danawhite or can you give me that Black Friday price for the sf belt?

Larkin does not seem too pleased about the champ not fighting on the January card.

A card that was supposed to be a fare goodbye to Strikeforce, it is certainly falling apart at an unbelievable speed. Rockhold joins lightweight champion Gilbert Melendez on the sidelines after Melendez was scratched from a championship defense against Pat Healy.

The only championship bout  left on the card is Nate Marquardt versus Tarec Saffiedine for Marquardt’s welterweight championship. Also scheduled for the card is Strikeforce Heavyweight Grand-Prix champion Daniel Cormier taking on Dion Staring, Gegard Mousasi versus Mike Kyle, and Ryan Couture versus K.J. Noons.

Strikeforce officials have yet to announce the above mentioned injuries.
