Dan Henderson calls out Lyoto Machida for new UFC 173 main event

With Chris Weidman out with a knee injury, the UFC is scrambling to find a replacement for the main event of UFC 173, which is still scheduled to go down on May 24th at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas Nevada. However, UFC Fight Night: Natal’s conquering hero, Dan Henderson, has stepped up to the plate via his Twitter account.

While it remains to be seen if Henderson would be medically cleared to compete on such short notice, he would also have to get his testosterone-to-epitestosterone levels down to allowable levels in order to compete in the newly TRT-less state of Nevada. Still, it’s an interesting challenge, and one that the Zuffa brass must be undoubtedly considering.

UFC 173 is still scheduled to occur on May 24th, and to emanate from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, NV. There is currently no main event, as UFC Middleweight Champion Chris Weidman was forced to withdraw from his scheduled bout with Lyoto Machida due to injury.
