Zebaztian Kadestam locks horns with Josh Calvo for the 170-lbs title at PXC 44

A scintillating title match-up between two 170-lbs prospects has been confirmed for PXC 44 later this year.

PXC officials announced this week that a vacant Welterweight championship title bout is in order between Legacy Gym’s Zebaztian Kadestam (6-1) and American, Josh Calvo (8-3).

PXC 44 takes place June 27. A venue hasn’t been formerly announced but the UOG Fieldhouse in Guam is the likely candidate to host the event this summer. As with previous PXC installments, you catch the entire main card onLIVESTREAM.

Kadestam (pictured), from Sweden, has been on fans’ radar for sometime now, and is somewhat of a specimen with his striking abilities. He is considered, for the most part, a stand-up fighter, with his textbook Muay Thai skill-set complimenting him well in all his seven pro MMA appearances thus far. The Swede is also a protege of one Ole Laursen, a fighter, himself, who’s no stranger to classic striking battles in the Asian MMA circles. Kadestam cemented a place in the title picture with TKO victories over Ronald Jhun and Ross Ebanez in 2013.

Calvo, meanwhile, has strong ties with the CEO of the promotion, but don’t for one second even come close to thinking that’s the reason why he’s in this title match-up. The 25-year-old has racked up a decent record of 2-0 since linking up with the PXC ranks, and has been nothing short of impressive in his performances. Furthermore, with six of Calvo’s eight wins coming by way of submission, Calvo’s submission prowess may give Kadestam something to contend with in this match-up of polar opposite styles.

It’s a classic 170-pound striker vs. grappler contest where the winner could possibly be in line for a UFC contract in the near future.

No further match-ups were announced for PXC 44. Be sure to keep it locked to the site for more updates.
