Jon Jones has always been praised for the wide aray of striking techniques he had in his arsenal, and in his UFC 172 title defense opposite Glover Teixeira on Saturday night, those techniques came in handy as he retained his belt.

The Chuck Liddell prodigy had no answer for Jones’ elusive striking techniques and was bloodied up over the five rounds.

Throughout the course of the fight, Jones pushed Teixeira up against the cage and grinded away at him, which could have ultimately hurt him in the end if Teixeira were to have landed one of his devastating punches — he didn’t.

At the end of the five round war, the judges scorecards were read by Bruce Buffer and Jones took home a 50-45 unanimous decision on all three judges cards.

Following the bout, UFC President Dana White said at the post-fight press conference that Alexander Gustafsson would in fact be next for another crack at Jones’ belt.
