Ronda Rousey injures right hand, needs surgery on right knee

“Right hand, right knee. But I’m left-handed so its all good.”

Following UFC Women Bantamweight Champion Ronda Rousey’s 16-second knockout victory over Alexis Davis in the co-main event at UFC 175, things took an unusual turn, as commentator Joe Rogan asked if she would be able to fight at UFC 176 in August. Unfortunately for fans of Rousey, she injured her hand on the very first punch thrown at Davis.

At the evening’s post-fight press conference, “Rowdy” spoke about the injury.

“It turns out over the last two camps, I kept ripping my knuckle open, and I just kept covering it up and hitting on it, so, it ended up getting infected, and I had a cyst on one of my knuckles,” Rousey told the media.”After the [Sara] McMann fight [at UFC 170], I should have taken it more seriously and gone to the doctor and checked it out, but I kind of ended up dismissing it and I kept ripping it open. Hopefully the cyst is actually gone, I’m going to go to the doctor and make sure.”

She also added at the press conference that she will have to go in for knee surgery soon. Luckily it’s not anything major, just precautionary measures.

“The knee surgery is something that’s more maintenance that I need to be doing,” Rousey said. “It’s not a major thing at all, it’s just a scope and I want to be 100 percent.”
